We found a great place!

North Bondi surf lifesavers, c1957Whoo hoo!! After all the looking for a place to live, we found an amazing place - 3 bedrooms! - in North Bondi, and today we went to sign some application forms for the apartment! I didn't really trust the real estate agent - the man smelled wrong, believe it or not, and he wore shiny grey - but we've signed the forms and hopefully they'll accept us. My friends, this place is so amazing. Polished floorboards, heaps of light, and a shared backyard. We saw it yesterday and today I woke up thinking about it. Which is a great sign. Bruno and I were saying that we haven't yet seen an apartment we both just went 'YES' to. This could be it!!

PS - Bruno will soon be sporting one of these luverly little numbers (see Photo.) All Bondi men wear one.

We're alive and life is great!

Hey everyone, life has been so full it's hard to know where to start. We've seen a bit of Trina - she is very pregnant now, and she could have a baby any day. Every time I call her and she's out I think "Oh my god! She's having a baby right NOW!!", when in fact she's only in the yard. Apparently Zhiron freaks out every time she rings him at work, so I'm in good company in the 'leaping to conclusions' category.

My friend Bianca Havas has also had a little baby, called Luka, whom we have yet to meet. Apparently both parents have brown eyes and Luka has blue eyes, so Petri, (Luka's father) may have given Bianca some suspicious looks initially.

I have started a freelance journalism course, and so far I have written one poxy story about weedy sea dragons. My 'report' is terrible, but weedy sea dragons are amazing, and the best thing of all is there is a colony right off Ben Buckler - my own local neighborhood. I get really blown away by thinking that in this place I know so well, just off the edge of the land and about 20 meters down, are some of the world's oddest little critters. Bruno and I keep meaning to go diving and see them! Maybe this weekend...

How cool is this? We can just walk up the road, go to a dive shop, and go right out off the beach here and go for a dive! It's all so close; we could be home in time for lunch. Brilliant. Now if we could just get our asses in gear.... When we saw Susan Cavanagh a couple weeks ago we drunkenly promised her we'd go diving in January off Heron Island. So we should put in some dives before then.

Other than all this, we've been going to check out houses. The first one we saw was amazing. It really spoke to us. But we couldn't take it so early, and we found out yesterday that it has gone. Everything else that we've seen (and we've seen about 10 places) hasn't always had that thing where both of us just go "YES, this is great." But one good thing is we are starting to look early. Because this is a beach village, and it fills up in summer, it really helps that it is winter and that we don't have to say ‘We'll take it' to the first boxy prison we see.

Bruno seems to be adjusting to my erratic, loud and rambunctious family pretty well. He has been working away from home everyday, starting his new life chapter as a remote consultant, and he has even got a membership to a gym. I've put in a couple of job applications, and today I heard back that I have an interview with Amnesty International Australia next week. So I'm pretty happy! I will have to buy some jeans that don't have dog chewed holes in them! Aha! A reason to go shopping! I was looking for one of those.

I'm off to go on my third jog ever, around the stunning cliffs of Bondi. I've decided that I won't join a gym, I'll be an outdoors sort of person (read - spend no money) and enjoy the gorgeous sunshine and crystal blue waters. So my legs are currently throbbing from my last pitiful attempt, and now I have to go make them move again. I feel like I'm running on chicken drumsticks. My plan is to have an ass like a superstar by summer. Failing that, I'll have a dream that I have said item, and still sloth around in my dog chewed trousers, living in a fantasy.

The country I am moving to

A critically injured American missionary survived a night in icy conditions wearing nothing but a T-shirt and socks after falling 70 metres from a cliff south of Sydney.

Er, wearing nothing but a T-Shirt and socks?? What was he up to?? Those crazy mormons!

Shamelessly taken from Bizarro (who in turn took it from someone else)

Bizarro, you ROCK! When are you coming to Ams?

Our anniversary

So we made it - two years and nobody has lost an eye. Yet.

We went out for a fantastic meal we found though 'Special Bite', a very cool resturant site with recommendations in English (ideal for lazy bastards who never learned the language like us.) It was called La Ferme, and it was only two streets away from us.
We got all 'dressed up' (for me that means not wearing boots) and off we went. The food was FANTASTIC. Man, it was good!!!
Then we went home through the brilliant sunshine (round about 9 at night!) and we stopped in to watch a bit of the long anticipated Netherlands/Germany game. The sea of people wearing orange in the pub was subdued - it was one nil, going Germany's way. So then we went and bought some alcohol, (the supermarket was deserted - it was like the twilight zone in there) and we went home. We then got berry berry smashed, watching football. The game was kinda boring, except with the Dutchies *finally* scored a goal. Then we turned off the sound and we could hear the whole town going ab-so-lute-lee mad. It was great!!

So that was our anniversary. And just to think that *certain* friends of ours gave it one month to live way back when. Humpf.
